No matter what stage of wedding planning a couple is in – before the ring lands on the finger, 18 months away or weeks away – the wedding show is the quickest and more cost-efficient way to see the Hamilton-Halton and surrounding region’s top wedding professionals and services in one place. Listed below are some suggestions for engaged couples and their families and friends to get the biggest benefit from the wedding show.
Handy wedding show survival tips:
Set up an email through yahoo, gmail etc., that is only for your wedding planning needs. This way, if you choose to give out your contact information, you know all of the info is in one location.
- Be sure to also print out your contact information on mailing labels to save time when filling out ballots
- Use your camera phone to capture great ideas you see (tip: make sure you take a few pictures of you and your entourage at the show! It makes art of your wedding planning experience and makes for great scrapbooking!)
- Come with a Vision: You may not have a date set, or you may know everything you want down to the colour of the groom’s socks! Both types of brides (and all those in between) are welcome at the wedding show. Before you arrive at the wedding show, the best thing you can do is know where you stand. That way, you can prioritize your time to collecting valuable info from everyone or just visit the booths to gather the products and services you are still in need of
- Wear comfy shoes
- Leave extra sweaters and coats in the car,
- Bring a sturdy reusable bag to gather information,
- Bring your mom, bridesmaids, friends or groom for support and ideas!

I had a chance to chat with Suzanna from Beauty in Motion Spa, a mobile full service salon that is ready and willing to beautify brides from all over southern Ontario on their Special Day. a couple of hot beauty tips Suzanna and I chatted about.
Q: Should a bride book and pre salon visit with you to experiment with her head piece and veil? If so, what should she bring?
[Suzanna ] Absolutely, it is always best to have a trial session with an artist/stylist prior to the big event. Before the trial session the bride should begin collecting photos of hairstyles and make –up applications that she would like to see on herself. The bride should collect a minimum of 3-4 looks to choose from. The bride should also bring her veil to the trial so the stylist can experiment with different looks and creations.
Q: What make-up products do you recommend brides use so that they look their best in pictures and in person on their wedding day, but still allows their inner beauty to shine through?
[Suzanna ] The bride should always try to stay as natural looking as possible. Brides need to remember that less really is more especially on your wedding day unless you are having a planned themed wedding event. Waterproof make-up where possible is a must.
Q: What is the Best “Kiss Proof” Lipstick in your opinion? What’s one of the hottest shades right now?
[Suzanna ] Right now my favourite Kiss Proof product is the “Long Wearing Lipstick” by Mac…the hottest shade right now is light purple and blush.

at the 13th Annual Hamilton-Halton Fall Wedding Show 2010
September 17 & 18, 2010 – The Careport Centre, Hamilton
To get local couples wedding planning started on a truly altruistic track, the Hamilton-Halton Fall Wedding Show 2010 is running the 2nd Annual Wedding show food drive (Brides for Banks) in support of Hamilton Food Share. We hope to raise over 2,000 canned goods for the families and children in the Hamilton area.
So we ask everyone attending this year’s show, to raid their pantries or head over to their local grocer and bring as many non-perishable food donations as they can to the wedding show at The Careport Centre on September 18th & 19th, 2010. 12noon-5pm each day. Even if they can’t stay for the show, we still welcome any donations at the door!
WHY? We encourage brides and grooms to incorporate the causes and charities that they are passionate about or would like to become passionate about in their wedding planning because it is a simple way to make their wedding a rewarding, positive experience that truly represents who they are as a couple. It also allows their wedding to leave a memorable impact on their community and world…not just pretty pic in their photo album!
