Now more than ever a wedding is incredibly personal. The dress, decor, music is specifically chosen to directly reflect the bride, groom, their relationship and their friends and family. Even though the wedding day and wedding planning process are hyper personalized; there are still some significant and awesome wedding trends emerging in the Niagara Region for the upcoming Fall & Winter Seasons. Listed below are some of my favs!
Junk Food Buffet: Indulge yourself and your guests in a cocktail hour or midnight buffet filled with your favourite junk food. Choose from chocolate bars, 5 cent candies, burgers and fries, all the fixins to make an ice cream sundae…whatever your favourite treat is, share it with your guests. It’s so chic to serve “junk” food at such a formal event!
Mis-matched bridesmaids dresses: I don’t know if I believe the myth that bridesmaid dresses are reusable, but at least make sure your ladies in waiting are comfy on your wedding day. It is so “in” right now to let your bridesmaids choose the cut, style and even colour of their own gown! The various styles and colours of dresses add a rich dynamic and deep dimension to your wedding pictures. Plus you can guarantee everyone will be smiling!
The Wedding Gown..its all in the details: Whether you choose a birdcage veil, a gown with pockets or an asymmetrical neckline (huge this season!), a vintage dress, or beaded waist sash to a plain dress; this season its all about the little delicate touches that really make a bride feeling beautiful, glamorous but comfortable that the dress reflects her unique style and personality
Colour Palate: The hottest wedding colours for the fall and winter season include deep red, violet, plum, sage, mocha and silver…many of these colours would work well separately or together. But went in doubt, pair your wedding colour with black (the most purchased colour of bridesmaids dresses in Niagara)
Wedding Cakes or Cupcakes…that is the question: While Niagara brides and grooms and loving both types of desserts; they are now experimenting with unique cake flavours such as mocha, espresso, mint, lemon, hazelnut, pie base or my personal fav, cheese cake!
Music: Music has taken on an even more significant role in weddings especially when it comes to choreographed dances between the bride & groom, mother and groom, or the entire wedding party. The reality TV shows about dancing have bumped up the performance ante at weddings big time! Music is also becoming more prevalent in the ceremony with couples playing their favourite love songs throughout the ceremony and incorporating song phrases into their vows.
Walk this Way: While many Niagara couples still love the traditional ceremony (groom walks his mom down the aisle, father walks bride down the aisle), several couples have decided to have both the bride & groom make a grand entrance by having both of them walk down the aisle at separate times (I think grooms across the region were feeling left out;))
Whether you are a trend setter, follower or like to dance to the beat of your own drum, I can guarantee at least one of the above Niagara Region wedding trends could definitely fit into your big day.
